Two types of IELTS test
Two types of IELTS test
There are two versions to choose from – Academic and General Training.
Most people will take the Academic version of IELTS for study but organisations set their own entry requirements. In some cases both Academic or General Training may be accepted. If students are in doubt as to which version of the test to take, they are advised to contact the organisation they are applying to in order to check their requirements.
Students have the opportunity to nominate up to five organisations to which copies of their IELTS test results will be sent. Results will be sent to these nominated organisations automatically free of charge.
IELTS Academic
IELTS Academic is suitable for entry to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and also for professional registration purposes.
IELTS General Training
IELTS General Training is for test takers wishing to migrate to an English-speaking country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK), and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level.
