History of the University:-
Akaki Tsereteli State University is one of the oldest schools in the country. In fact, he was born in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. On January 8, 1933, the reorganized Tbilisi State University was renovated by the decree of the Central Executive Committee and Public Commissar of the Georgian SSR, and the state pedagogical institute created on its base was transferred to Kutaisi and continued functioning from February 13 of the same year. He was in the status of Alexander Tsulukidze State Pedagogical Institute in 1933-1990. The institute was placed in the center of the city, in the premises where the original school was originally located. In the first academic year (1933 ) In Kutaisi based first and second course courses in Tbilisi, 700 students from Tbilisi came to study in our city. Their professors and teachers also came to work in Kutaisi. In 1990 the higher education system was transformed into Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University, which is a logical crown that has been successful in the institution.
On September 1, 1974, Kutaisi Polytechnic Institute was officially started functioning at the Faculty of Light Industry in Kutaisi, which was named after the academician Niko Muskhelishvili in 1977. In 1992, the highest educational institution received the university status.
According to the Decree # 39 of the Government of Georgia of February 23, 2006, reorganization of the Legal Entities of Public Law – Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University and Niko Muskhelishvili State Technical University of Kutaisi through their union. The educational institution was named as a university and was named by Akaki Tsereteli State University.
Government of November 16, 2010 resolution of the faculty of agriculture are selected in the form of continued existence of Subtropical Agriculture State University study in 1952 of the Agricultural Institute of separation as a result of, as The Agricultural Institute, the government’s resolution of 11 April 1959 on the finding Anil was the city of Sukhumi. Because of the tragedy in Abkhazia in 1993, the higher education system returns to Kutaisi. By the order of the President of Georgia in 2003, the institute was transformed into a university.
